About two weeks ago, I was contacted by Borders Bookstore to test drive a Sony Touch Reader in one of their Stores.

“WOW! YES! I WOULD LOVE TO! --- buuut... ummmm … I live in Germany… “

Not a problem! Borders Bookstore SHIPS to APO addresses!

It took 6 days for the reader to arrive and after 3 days of playing with it...
I would like to share my thoughts with all of you!

Now - I love books. I even collect antique books. The smell, the feel… mmmm…

However, I ALSO have a VERY practical side… And making weight during a Military Move?
Choosing between your bedroom dresser and a stack of well loved books?
Yeah - Not.much.fun

The Sony Touch Reader comes with 512MB of space (it can hold about 350 books), AND it has two slots for memory cards! Yeah – that means the sky is the limit on space folks. (Plus the Reader itself only weighs 10 ounces.)

The software for the Border's Sony Touch Reader is intuitive to use, much like ITunes. You download the “Library” Program, plug in the reader, and sync. (Yeah – even I easily figured this out!)  It has some neat built in extras for example you can fold over the “page”, highlight, underline, and make notes in your eBook – and it will index them so you can search your notes later. Another wonderful feature is a built in dictionary!

 
Oh and my husband? I can’t keep him away from it. As soon as he learned that PDF files (and several other formats too) can be utilized, he has been loading it with all of his work manuals and references.  He also likes that we can load a whole bunch of family photos for his next deployment or training assignment… (and maybe a fun doodle or two when he’s not looking!)

Well – enough about my thoughts – Let’s get down to the good stuff!
